Billanook Chess Classic 2015 is a suite of 1 day chess tournaments which Northern Star Chess is conducting at the Billanook College in Mooroolbark. In 2015, the suite consists of 4 Sunday tournaments, each event incorporating the Classic division and a new Novice division.
Billanook College has been supporting quality chess incentives for their students and the wider community for a number of years, providing chess coaching and school tournaments for students within school as well as hosting chess tournaments on weekends.
The Billanook Chess Classic has been running for a number of years as a single division and has been attracting a strong field of chess players. This year, we introduce a new Novice division to cater for the not so strong players who might enjoy a milder challenge, competing against other novice players.
Novice division - New in 2015!
- If a player has no rating of any manner (ACF or FIDE), or
- If a player's ACF Quick rating is below 800, or
- If a player does not have a Quick rating, the Classic rating is below 800
A healthy prize structure is offered for each of the 4 individual tournaments, along with medals and trophies. Individual scores for each tournament accumulate over all 4 events to determine the grand prizes and winners of the Billanook Chess Classic perpetual cup, to be presented at the conclusion of the Grand Final tournament.
Classic division - The tradition continues...
The cash prize pool is over $4000!
