Billanook Chess Classic 2013 is a suite of 1 day chess tournaments which Northern Star Chess is conducting at the Billanook College in Mooroolbark. In 2013, the suite consists of 4 Sunday tournaments.

All 4 tournaments will be ACF and FIDE (rapid) rated

A healthy prize structure is offered for each of the 4 individual tournaments, along with medals and trophies. Individual scores for each tournament accumulate over all 4 events to determine the grand prizes and winners of the Billanook Chess Classic perpetual cup, to be presented at the conclusion of the Grand Final tournament.

The cash prize pool is over $4000! There are plans to also add grand prize draws to the excitement.

Billanook College has been supporting quality chess incentives for their students and the wider community for a number of years, providing chess coaching and school tournaments for students within school as well as hosting chess tournaments on weekends.

In January 2011, Billanook College proudly hosted the prestigious Australian Junior Chess Championships which attracted near record breaking attendance by junior chess players from all over Australia.

2 Perpetual Cups:

  • The Billanook Classic Cup - Adult Division , and
  • The Billanook Classic Cup - Junior Division
will be awarded - to the top scorer of the Adult Division and the top scorer of the Junior Division.
These cups will be on display at the College to showcase the success of the individuals.
